Curd has been discussed in detail in Ayurveda as Dadhi. The benefits, disadvantages and the regulations for consumption of curd have been mentioned in the ancient classical texts of Ayurveda.

Curd is heavy to digest, could be sweet or sour in taste, has a hot potency (ushna) and is a rich source of fats and proteins.

  3. Extremely sour curd should be avoided.
  4. Curd must not be consumed at night or ideally, after sunset.
  5. It must never be heated or boiled as it disintegrates and turns toxic leading to gut and skin disorders.
  6. It must never be taken along with fruits and milk.
  7. Curd should be strictly avoided incase of respiratory disorders, inflammation, swelling of any kind, indigestion, diarrhoea/vomitting, Gout, Rheumatism, auto-immune disorders, menstrual disorders, fever, skin diseases or all types of gut disorders.
